Sony Falls Short of PS5 Sales Target as Console Enters 'Later Stage of its Life Cycle

Sony Adjusts PS5 Sales Forecast Downward, Citing Lower Projections for Fiscal Year 2023

According to Bloomberg reports, Sony has revised its sales expectations for the PS5 console downward for the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2023. Initially projected to sell 25 million units, the forecast has been adjusted to 21 million units, marking a difference of 4 million units.

Despite an increase in PS5 sales during Sony's third quarter, rising to 8.2 million units from 6.3 million units in the same quarter of the previous year, the actual figures fell short of previous projections by approximately one million units. This shortfall occurred despite the release of highly anticipated first-party title Spider-Man 2, strong sales of third-party titles, and the introduction of a new slimmer PS5 model in November.
